One of the fundamental rights of our democracy is the right to vote! Any U.S. Citizen who is at least age 18 on election day is eligible.
Registering to Vote
You can register to vote for federal, state and local elections at the Thetford Township Clerk's Office, by visiting any Secretary of State Branch Office or by mail (see the Michigan Voter Information Center website for forms and requirements).
Proposal 3 brought many changes to elections in Michigan. To register to vote, the guidelines are as follows:
You must be a resident of Thetford Township 30 days prior to the election in which you wish to vote in.
You will be automatically registered to vote when renewing or getting a new driver's license, unless you specifically tell the Secretary of State otherwise.
You can register in person, by mail or online up to 15 days prior to the election.
You can register in person with the local Clerk within 14 days of an election, up to and including Election Day, you will be required to show proof of identity (picture I.D.), but, also show proof of residency. Acceptable documents are a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document. These items must include the applicant's name and current address.
